Build a Backyard Putting Green at Home

By Bradd Harris at 2012-03-22 03:49:10
Most instructors, for golf or any sport, will tell you practice makes perfect. What better way to practice than to have a putting green in the comfort of your backyard, especially when time is an issue. If you are using your green more for entertainment, put it in an area that is already communal. You'll find you need a place to sit after a while. Often, Putting greens are installed adjacent to patios or pools. It makes you feel like you live on the course even if you don't.

It doesn't matter if you're looking for a fun pastime or a way to improve your short game, home putting greens are a great addition to your backyard. Considering that you can get any design that you want, including various speeds on the green, there are seemingly endless options to consider when it comes to having your own personal putting green built.

Remember, also that care for grass on a backyard putting green and care for grass on our front lawn are two very different things. They have different mowing cycles and use different mowers, too. The same with their chemical treatments. It's best to get help from a backyard putting green expert. Indoor greens are synthetic of course. When you're considering outdoor putting greens, you have a choice of materials. Your choice is synthetic turf grass or an artificial turf.

You can choose between a synthetic or natural home putting green. A synthetic putting green made of products such as polypropylene or nylon would be easier and cheaper to maintain than that made from natural grass which needs a lot of water for maintenance. On the other hand, grass can give your putting green a more natural feel.

With home putting greens customized, you'll be sure to get exactly what you want from a practice green. Even if you're just looking for a place to have fun with your family and friends, you can design a green that's easy for everyone to use.
